I seem to have heard this kind of thing from exiled dissidents before:

Now, I'm not necessarily questioning the validity of this story. Alls I'm sayin' is that it's awful convenient for this stuff to be coming out right now, almost as if we were being prepared for - oh, say, - attacking Iran.
