They're doing WHAT now?
Bush signing may mean government can read your mail
So now merely tapping phone calls and intercepting e-mails isn't giving them a big enough police state stiffy, now they're going to be reading our mail as well? The HELL?
So we're now to believe in this e-world of THE FUTURE with instant messaging and cell phones and the Intertubes and all that, that the BAD BAD people are going to be sending letters by snail-mail?
The full signing statement said:
"The executive branch shall construe subsection 404(c) of title 39, as enacted by subsection 1010(e) of the act, which provides for opening of an item of a class of mail otherwise sealed against inspection, in a manner consistent, to the maximum extent permissible, with the need to conduct searches in exigent circumstances, such as to protect human life and safety against hazardous materials, and the need for physical searches specifically authorized by law for foreign intelligence collection.
Yeah, well, jee-zus, we've seen already how careful and responsible they've been with the "information gathering" they've already been doing, what with spying on lil' grey grannies and vegans and Catholics. I don't know WHY this should bother me.
Frog, meet slowly heating water...
